In Day 4 of our 40-Day Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection, we begin with 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 NIV.
Dear brothers and sisters,
As you set out on your Journey with Jesus today and reflect on your personal relationship with Christ, we invite you to join us as we dig deeper into today's passage from 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 NIV where the Apostle Paul shares this:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:”
You might be asking yourself, “What does this passage really mean? I know I have been forgiven of my sins. Isn’t that reconciliation?” Until we dug in a little deeper into the true meaning of reconciliation, we thought the same. It wasn’t until we discovered that forgiveness and reconciliation were not the same, but that reconciliation is the last step in forgiveness, that the impact of this verse was life altering. Reconciliation is truly where restoration begins.
Reconciliation, when it happens, is the most beautiful step in forgiveness. It marks the end of the estrangement which was caused by the original sin, and where harmony and fellowship can begin to be restored. In the passage above, Paul is speaking of reconciliation between God and humanity.
Come join us as we look at this passage and what reconciliation truly is and why it is not only important in our earthly relationships, but also in our relationship with the Lord. We will break apart this scripture further and share examples of how this might be applied in your daily life.
We hope this podcast series blesses you as you strengthen your relationship with the Lord during this Lenten season.
In His precious love,
Shalom shalom (perfect peace)
