In Day 7 of our 40-Day Journey with Jesus: A Lenten Reflection, we begin with (Romans 4:7-8 NIV)
As a child, did you ever break anything precious in your house? Perhaps, it was something made of ceramic and glass that was near and dear to your heart. If so, recall the crash to the floor and it breaking into a million, unfixable pieces. What did you feel when it happened? Perhaps you felt sadness for the loss, hopelessness that it never can be restored to new, or maybe you felt anger or shame for your hasty actions that caused the item to break. Were you worried about being blamed for breaking the item, or the pain you caused someone for breaking such a precious thing?
You are not alone… we hear you and have felt those things.
Things happen. We move fast, we don’t always think things through, and things easily break beyond the point of repair... precious things.
Over the past several days, each scripture we have read reminds us of God’s love for us. They spoke of His forgiveness. They told of how He sacrificed the most precious thing to Him so that our sins could be erased and so that we could be made brand new. Today’s scripture (Romans 4:7-8 NIV) reaffirms this.
Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”
When Jesus died, we were made new with:
- NO flaws or cracks.
- NO blame for any hurt or pain we caused in the past.
- NO constant broadcast reminding us, and others, of our past sins.
Instead, through Christ, God made a beautiful masterpiece, a mosaic, from our broken pieces.
We invite you to join us as we unpack this scripture further and show just how strongly it relates to us today. We hope that the Lord will truly bless your life through this podcast today and that He will draw you closer and closer to Him each day during this Lenten season.
In His precious love,
Shalom shalom (perfect peace)
