Dear brothers and sisters,
I don’t think many of us, if we're honest with ourselves, struggle with thinking that we are perfect and without sin. So today’s scripture in 1 Timothy 1:15 NIV is really a ‘no-brainer’ for most of us. But just in case you DO have a tendency to think that you are bordering on perfection, might I remind you to take a closer look at this verse from 1 John 1:8 NIV...
“8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
I think that should cure ALL of us from any deception about being anywhere near perfect.
Or, perhaps you have the more common thought pattern of many Christians today and think “Hey, I may not be perfect, but I’m not as bad as THAT person over there.”, or “I may not be perfect, but at least I’m not a murderer, a liar, a pervert, or something REALLY bad like that.” If you’ve ever thought this, I suggest that you remember 2 Corinthians 10:12 NKJVwhere Paul tells the Christians in Corinth...
12 “ ...But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”
